DISTRICT NEWS.
PUNIHO. The return ball organised by the bachelors of this district was held on Friday evening, and was highly successful. The committee deserve the greatest praise for the manner In whjch the arrangements were carried out. The dance room was' gaily decorated with nlkaus, and red, white and blue streamers, while the tables in the supper room were beautifully decorated, the scheme being worked out in spring flowers, and appropriately shaded trimmings. \The splendid sui;per provided was worthy \of special mention, having nothing to be desired. Mr. Pearson supplied excellent music, extras being played by Mrs Ellis and Mr. Payne. During the evening Miss Pnterson, on behalf of the ladies, thanked the bachelors for the hospitable way in which they had entertained all present, and called for three hearty cheerj for the committee. Mr. Payne responded, thanking* all who in auy way assisted In making the ball such an outstanding success The singing of "They Are Jolly Good Fellows," hy the ladles concluded the most successful function ever held in Punlho.
