A message received by the police from Martinboi'ough stated that, during a quarrel between two men, David Carlston stepped in io stop them, and was stabbed between the ribs. He was remov-' ed to hospital in u serious condition. His nllepcd a'.-sailanl was arrested. Carterton, August 2S. The stabbing affray at Pirinoa on Thursday night last, wherein a halfcaste named Mason Coulston was stab' bed- in the left breast with a table knife by a Norwegian named Alexander Lundquist, is developing seriously. The ininjured man is in the Greytown Hospital, and his depositions were taken yesterday. Lundquist was arrested and remanded in custody at Martinborough for eight days.
