BOXING.

EMPIRE THEATRE TO-NIGHT. RICHARDSON V. BROWN. Our readers are given a last reminder of the boxing tournament which takes place in the Empire Theatre to-night the first bout 8 pm. The full programme which appears in this issue, is a splendid one. In (he amateur events there are: Bantam-weight, Wally Harris v. ,T. James This will be a good bout. The light-weight contest will be one of the best amateur bouts Vet put on by the Taranaki Boxing Association, the contestants being G. Thomas, of Wanganui, and Paton, of Hawera. Both these contestants are championship men, and have great performances in the Dominion to their' credit. In the welter-weight, R. Land, of New Plymouth, will meet B. O'Cirroll, of Inglewood. Both these boxers are well-known, and this will be a good bout and full of Interest. A special bout in which the contestants will be the evergreen W. G. Coorabc, of Oaonui, and A. Henderson, of New Plymouth should please. In the heavy-weight, C. P. Clifton; of New Plymouth, will be matched against L. McAsey, of Lepperton. Both of these boxers are well up In the art, and give a good exhibit!!* of boxing. v The btg event of the evening Is a 15-round professional bout between G. Richardson and and F. Brown, for a purse of seventy sovs Bolh men-are very fit, and as there is verv little between them, a great go should be the result. Richardson has improved out of all knowledge since his defeat by Thompson, but Brown's supporters are confident their man can beat his hard-hitting opponent. The referee, Mr. Tim Tracey, of Wellington, who arrived by the mail train last" night, will have a hard job to separate these two .men. Prices of admission are 10s and ss, and there are a limited number of ringside seats at £1 Is.
