ACCIDENT AT TARIKI.
CYCLIST AND MOTOR COLLIDE. « MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED. (From Our o*yn Correspondent,)/ Stratford, Last An extraordinary collision betwetfl a motor car and a cyclist Ticcurred oH-the Tariki bridge this morning, a* a result of which the cyclist, Edward Tweedle, 31 years of age, residing at Wellington, was severely injured. , Mr. Tweedle is a member' of the In-, ternation.il Bible Students' Association, and has been canvassing in the district. At the time of the accident he was cycling towards Stratford, and a» he reached the Tariki bridge (i car drfven by Mr. A. W. Ogle, of Waitara, cjtine from the opposite direction. By soma mischance Mr. Tweedle rodo over the front of the car, and it Wflß quite.-}® - possible for. Mr. Ogle to avoid, a collision. "/ The ear and cycle met witli griat force and Mr. Tweedle was knuck«d,to the side of the road, sustaining ft wrtre fracture of his left arm, a cnahed "pelvis, and a number of other wounds about the body and head. The car was also badly damaged, to suclt an extent that Mr. Ogle was unable to use It to bring the injured roan to .Stratford. . The driver of another car, which came on the scene immediately • afterwards, brought Mr. Tweedle to the' Stratford hospital, whejc he at once received medical attention from Dr. Steven. ,
Eye-witnesses of the accldenf itate that Mr. Ogle was unable to a veld the collision, and in trying to get ost of the way he nearly drove his car Intt the creek.
