NEW ZEALAND PICTURES.
MR. SMITH WANTS THEM SHOWN. (By Wire.—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. During the debate on the Internal Affairs estimate to-night, Mr. S. G. Smith (Taranaki) made a plea that the cinematograph pictures taken by the New Zealand Government photographers should bo exhibited to the people of the Dominion. He said that during the trip to Samoa several of these pictures, scenic and industrial, had been shown, and proved to bo much superior to the American "trash" shown at many theatres. The people who paid for the taking of these pictures should have a chance of seeing them. If it were riot possible to exhibit them generally, he urged that the Government should Bhow them to school children.
