The State Labor Party has cabled the "Council of Action 1 ' congratulating them on their attitude regarding Poland and pledging the support of the Australian Labor Party. The Governor-General has received a message from the King expressing deep appreciation of the welcome granted the Prince. The University Senate has. created a new chair, appointing Mr. C. J. Brennan associate Professor of German and Comparative Literature. The Seamen's and Firemen's Unions refuse to take the Fiona to sea, stating the stokehold is under-manned. The Fiona belongs to the Colonial Sugar Company, and is employed on the Fiji-Auckland-Sydney run. Melbourne, August 20. The Victorian harvest is expected to total fifty million bushels.
