TARANAKI HOSPITAL BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Taranakl Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held at the Board's office yesterday. Present: Messrs M. Eraser (in the chair), ,T. Andrews, F. 3. Hill, E. Gilmour, C. Andrews, S. Campbell, G, Young, G. Capper, J. Young. An apology vjas received for the absence of Mr. A. 11. Hulcombe. MONTHLY REPORTS. The Matron (Miss B. A. Caoipbell) reported that Sister Pagat and Nurse Wilson were on holiday leave, and Nurse Ennis on. Hick 16ive. Nurse Hirst had so'vered her connection with the hospital on .Tilly 31st. Nurse Gruby had been granted leave of absence for a few days. The Matron reported that they were Still experiencing great, difficulty In drying clothes, also with the hot water, service In tho main kitchen, and hoped the Board would endeavour to install the new plant as soon as possible. The dispenser reported that it was found necessary to open up the new machinery for the laundry, the salt water evidently getting at it. It was In a very bad State, the bearings, etc. being covered with rust. There was tio improvement m the coke supply. Dr, D. A. Walker, medical silperiritendent, reported a decline In dlphtheri/i casos. At present there was only one case under treatment. There \vere thre cases of scarlet fever in the upper isolation 4)lock. He recommended that a pattition be placed in the sitting room of the Nurses' Home with the object of separating senior nurses from JUniof .nurses. The Matron of the Rangiatea Home reported that during the past month everything had been progressing very favorably, supplies being good and discipline excellent, with tho exception of three cases which had been dealt with by the chairman. Remaining in the home were 34 males and 8 females, making a total of 42. The" chairman of the Farm Committee repoted that the supply of milk was being kept up fairly well. The cows are all in Tery good condition, but the food supply was getting very short, only sufficient remaining to carry the cattle over the next two or three weeks. Store pigs had been sold, aa the supply of waste from the hospital had decreased. The farnt manager stated: Tor the month of .July the herd of 17 cows had produced 11,639 lbs. of milk. He had reduced the number of pigs. Shortage of help had put cropping considerably behind. He was, having trouble to get feed to last out, and by the end of the imonth all would bB finished. NURSES' HOME. The progress report in connection with (he construction of the new Nursos' Home stated satisfactory progress was . being made.
