. PIANOFORTE RECITAL. The programme for Miss Leatham'fl recital at the Empire Theatre to-morrow night offers to music lovers of this district one of those rare musical treats which are all too infrequent here, and should attract a large audience. Those Who have not booked seats would be well advised to do so immediately, as there are not many good seats now remaining. Miss Lcatham has a wonderful memory, and does not use the score for any of her items, this alone being a great accomplishment. She plays with vigor and abandon, and has very keen appreciation of the subtleties of the works selected. She is able to vividly portray all the human emotions with compelling reality, and added to her intense musical temperament there is also a clear and brilliant technique, all of which go in make up a very finished and artistic- performance. Owing to an indisposition, Mr. Macdonald regrets his inability to appear at the concert. His place on the programme will be taken by Mrs. Basham, of Waipuknrau, who is at present visiting New Plymouth, and who is very well known to local concert-goers. The full programme appears in to-day's issue. The prices are 3s and 2s, plus tax, and the plan is at Hoffmann's.
