Augut 18. Considerable discussion took place at the last meeting of the Borough Council on the proposals of the Electric Light Committee to remove the department to the Borough Chambers and erect a bulk store and workshop in Miranda Street. In moving the adoption of the report, Cr. Thompson said the object was to reduce the price of light and power. He considered the Council Would have a fair trade. 1 The Mayor, in moving that the wiring | and retail business' be discontinued as soon as thfc work" in hand was finished, I contended that the business was not worth carrying on. ~lf done at all, the , business shfitild be done properly, while the engineer would be better employed in-generating electricity than in spending a third of his time over the wiring and retail business, which could be all handled by one firm. Eventually- the" amendment was car- : ried, so the shop and retail business will 'be closed. / - ' '
