Tho authorities at Bagdad sent parties to the homes of the extremists who are blamed for the recent trouble 011 the Euphrates and the flood of propaganda. The police failed to cfleet arrests, owing to the action of crowds, who also fired on reserves lending the police assistance. Eventually nine men were arrested. The l-ioters lost six killed and twelve wounded.
Later a company of Bhopal infantry arrived and swept the town from end to end. There were no further disturbances and the town is quiet. The military are taking precautions against further outbreaks.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable A?sn.
Delhi. August IC. _ Bagdad advices state that the situation on the 15th between Hiliah and Bagdad improved. Our forces occupied Mnseyio on the 14th and Ilindiyah Barrage on the 15th., thus restoring the situation in this area. There is no news from Mosul, owing to a telegraphic breakdown.—Rentpr Service.
