Cable Assn. CANADIAN WHEAT. Ottawa, August 10. Winnipeg reports that contrary to expectations, grain exchange has not opened. Tho Government Wheat Boards is still carrying out its functions and will do so for probably a week longer.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. HIDE AND TALLOW SALES. Dalgety and Co. report: Wo held nur fortnightly sale of hides and tallow this afternoon, when we offered a good catalogue of all classes to a full bench of buyers. Competition particular}' for good sound butchers hides showed an improvement on last sales and prices showed a slight advance on late rufes. Cow hides and best quality of calfskins showed similar advances but all poor, cut and slippy hides were neglected. In sympathy with the London market the tallow •market showed an Improvement of about 10s per cwt. We quote: Hides: -Ox sound, 70 lbs. and dvev, 13d to 19% d; 59 lbs. to 09 lbs., 15% d to 17% d; 53 lbs. to 58 lbs., to 17d; 45 lbs. to 52 lbs., lOd to 14% d; 33 lbs. to 44 lbs., lOd to U%d; ox cm and slippy, all grades, 5%d to 11 %d; cow, sound, 45 lbs. and over, lOd to 14% d; 33 lbs., to 44 lbs., lOd to 12% d; cow cut and slippy, all grades, 2d to 12% d; yearling and kip; sound, 11 lbs. to 16 lbs., ll%d to 13% d; ditto 17 lbs to 32 lbs., 9d to 13% d; cut and sl'opy, all grades IVid to 10%; calf, aoUnd, first quality under 6 lbs., 10% d to U'Ad; ditto, ti lbs. to 8 lbs. 10% d to 15% d; ditto, 9 lbs. to 12 lbs., 9%d to 12V 8 d; <wlf, cut and slippy, l%d to 10% d; bull, stag, 6d to.9d; horse, 5s t?o 14s.
