NEW PLYMOUTH-ONEHUNGA.
THE STEAMER SERVICE RIRAWA'S RETURN MAY BE TEMPORARY. The Taranaki Chamber of Commerce has been informed by the manager of the Northern Steamship Company that the Harawa will.be takeu off the Auckland- Whangarei service on 11th SepItember. She will then be overhauled, and reinstated on the New PlymouthOnehunga service. There is a possibility that the Barawa will be taken off the New PlymouthOnehunga service permanently, and placed on the Auekland-Tauranga service. At present, however,' there 'is insufficient depth in the Tauranga harbor to permit of this, but the improvements about to be undertaken there emtrace tho deepening of the channel to tho Tauranga wharf, If this work is successful the Rarawa Will take up the Ngapuhi's running, and the -Kgapuhi put on the Now service. In this case the NgapuUl will make, triweekly trips, instead of the present biweekly trips. .« *<M| _ The company state that the Rarawa is a much more expensive vessel to run than the Ngapuhi, and that it has to utilise tho larger vessel where most traffie and cargo offer. ,
