DEFEAT OF THE GOVERNMENT. NO POLITICAL SIGNIFICANCE. By Teleßraph.—Press Aaan—Copyright, Received August 15, 5.5 p.m. Capetown, August 13. In the Assembly the Government was defeated on a snap vote by 43 votes to 42, on a proposal to raise the abatement on income tax from £3OO to £SOO for married men. The majority consisted of Laborites, Nationalists, and half-a-dozen Unionists, including Mr. Smart, leader of the party.—Reuter Service. Received August 15, 5.5 p.m. Capetown, August 14.
