Newton). The Union declined to agree, and at a meeting held, this afternoon decided to remain on strike until their'demands are satisfied."' Mr. P»rry, M.P., for information as to the points in dispute, telegraphed yesterday as follows: "The Union wants 44 hours, and the company 48. Will accept overtime at the rate of time and a-half for tie first three hours, and double after. Holidays: Christmas Day, Boxing Day, lf*w Year's Day, Picnic Day, Good Friday, Knster Monday, Labor Day, Anniversary Day, and King's Birthday. The weekly raita wanted (minimum bow £3 14s) is £4 14s, i.e., £1 increase per man ill round, and Os retrospective pjaymant from May." The Union membership is 170.
