SANDON MOTOR FATALITY.
CHARGE OP MANSLAUGHTER. THREE DEATHS INVOLVED. By Tdejrapli.—Press Association. Paknorston North, Last Night. The Supreme Court was occupied all day with the manslaughter charge against Warren Newth, arising out of the recent motor fatality resulting in the deaths of Arthur Ernest Eglinton, Alfred Edward Penny, and Frank Kidman. The evidence of the prosecution showed that Eglinton's car was lighted and was travelling at a moderate pace on the correct side of the road. Police tests in the locality showed that the accused, with an ordinary care, should have seen Eglinton's car, even if it was not lighted. Opening the defence, counsel intimated that he would call only an independent eye-witness, who saw Eglinton's car approaching not lighted, while Newth's car was lighted. The accused, giving evidence, said he never exceeded a speed of 28 miles, and although he was taking every precaution he never saw the approaching car until the impact. The case is proceeding.
