WANGANUI IMPORTS LANDED HERE An illustration of the value of the port of New Plymouth as a distributing centre for the west const of the North Island was provided yesterday, when the steamer Glaucus arrived from Surprise Island with a cargo of IGOO tons of phosphites for Wanganuj. The cargo, which is consigned to tlie Imlay Refrigerating '-"Company at Wanganui, will he f raiied from New Plymouth to that town, discharging operations commencing this morriiii|, This is believed to the first occasion on Which a full cargo has been brought to New Plymouth to be railed so far south a# Wanganui. OVERSEA VESSELS COMING. The neit oversea vessel expected at New Plymouth is the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Otarama, which is jo leave Newcastle on Monday for this port. The Otarama will arrive about the .end of the week, and will load produce here for England, afterwards going to the Waitara roadstead. Another oversea vessel which will probably come ta New Plymouth is the West Carmargo, Of the Central Steamship Corporation of San Francisco. She left 'Frisco on August 3 for Auckland, and will also call at Wellington, being due here late in September. Another interesting arrival in September will be the Shaw, Savill liner Mamari, which will bring direct shipments for Taranaki from England.
