There was an excited demand, especially from the Continent, and all were sold. Prices rapidly advanced as the sales progressed, closing at Iss t» 80s above the Inst sales* Mixed showed tlto greatest advance. Fine mutton and beef 80s, medium 755, fair to good mixed 76s to 795. As a result of the Australian Government securing furtlior tonnage for wheat to Europe. The freight on Australian parcels lias been reduced by about 20s a ton. There have been considerable sales of wheat and flour by the Australian Wheat Committee, showing a net return to Australia, exceeding 13s a bushel f.O.b. AUCKLAND STOCK MARKET. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. ] Ltd. report:— At Westfleld Store sale, the bidding was a little less spirited .than at recent sales. Best tlairy cows £ls to £l9 15s, good sound cows £l3 10s to £l4 15s, others backward and small heifers £7 7s Gd to £l3 ss, A small entry of store cattle sold readily, empty cows making from £5 2s 6d to £T 18s, cows with calves £8 5s yearling to 15-month heifers £3 16s to ££4 its 6d, calves, best to £3 15s, others £1 13s to £3 2s.
There Was a large entry of dairy cattle at our aiiecinl dairy sale at Papakura. Best cows made from £l7 to £26, good sorts £l4 to £l6 15s, others £ll 10s to £l3 10s, poorer and backward £0 to £ll ss. The yarding of store cattle at Papakura, tvaß on the small side, all sorts finding buyers under good competition. Dairy cows made from £8 5s to £ls 10s, 18-months steers £6 to £7 2s, beef cows £9 10s to £ll ss, steers £l3 is to £ls 10s, fat cows £4 to £8 15s, calves, best £2 2s to £2 18s, othors £1 10s to £2 Is, yearling to 18-month steers £3 10s to £4 17s Od. At Weslfield fat stock market, choice oxen sold up to last week's quotation of £2 19s per 10001b, prime £2 12s to £2 18s, plain and unfinished £1 15s to £2 6s, cow and heifers beef £2 to £2 lis, steers sold from £ll 12s 6fl to £25, cows and heifers from £8 5s to £ls 2s Cd. Calrcs came forward in good numbers. Runners sold from £6 to £l3 10s for a 2-year steer, heavy vcalers £4 15s to £5 17s Od, medium £3 12s to £4 14s, light £2 5s to to £3 lis, lighter fat calves !£s to £2 4s, fresh dropped 6s to 15b. I'lrs sold at slightly increased prices. Light to heavy baconers £6 to £B, heavy porkers £5 10s to £5 19s, medium £4 15s to £5 9s, Light £3 18s to £4 14s, unfinished £1 10s 6d to £1 17;, heavy prime ewes £1 16s to £1 19s, medium £1 13s 3d, to £1 159 9d, light £1 9s 9d to £1 13s, unfinished and Inferior £1 Ss to £1 Ss 6d. A good entry of laifflbs sold under keen competition, extra heavy prime from £1 17s to £2 5s 6d, .heavy prime £1 14s to £1 16s 9d, medium £1 10s to £1 13s 3d lighter £1 7s 6d to £1 9s Sd, small and unfinished £1 2s 63 to £1 7s.
