i RAHOTU. Tlie Domain Board met on Saturday evening, and decided to hold a working bee on the following Wednesday and move the sports buildings to o. more suitable position. Messrs. Fischer, Tyrrell, I'enwarrten, Williamson, Gibson and {ireen turned up with tools, horses and drays, and by the evenine had the building in place. Mr. Fischer and Mr. Looney were busy the day before getting things in order. The Bowling Club are getting, on with their ground. Plai is being planted, and the fences done up by Mr. Looney. The Bowling Club's auction basket social took place on Wednesday evening. There were about twenly-iwo baskets of all sorts and kinds to be sold. Mr. Jones acted as auctioneer, assisted by Mr. Andrews, a visitor from Okato. The highest, bid for ono basket was £2. Altogether the sale realised £l3 12s. and with the door takings and sale of tickets about £2O was netted. Mr. M. Hughson apologised for the absence of Mr. Ch;.pman, the President, who was away in the King Country. Mrs. A. Phillips and her family, and Miss Ethel Phillips, have arrived safely in Auckland. Miss D. Knight (late postmistress) has returned to Katl Katl. Her brother (Mr. Ronnv' Wright), we are sorry to hear, has been suffering from rheumatism. He has been moved m the Te Aroha district, and Is a little eas- j ier. ■ Tiie many friends of Mr. .T. B. ICnowles, who lived tip the Kaliui Road, and later in our township, where he and Mrs ICnowles tiuHit music for years, going to Gisbornn later, where they had the Piccadilly Tea Itooms, passed away one day last week, after an operation. Mrs. Knowies and her two sons will have the sympathy of the district in their sad loss. Mr. "Jack" Knowies was only married a few weeks before his father's death. Two weddings of interest arc taking place shortly in the district. A kitchen ten. is being held on Friday night in honor of Miss Alice Hopkins at her father's house.
