AUSTRALIA'S COAL CRISIS.
[ THREAT TO MELBOURNE INDUSTRY By Teleeraph—Press Amu.—Copyright Received August S, 5.56 p.m. Melbourne, Augiut 8. The coal position ia regarded as graver than at any period since 1914. Householders' supplies are unobtainable, and the quantity coming from New South Wales ia far below what is required to keep essential industries going at full power. Unless there is a. marked improvement during the next few weeks many factories will be compelled 'to close. It is anticipated the authorities will take action giving precedence to coastal vessels now delayed at Newcastle on account of preference shown for consignments for abroad.—Aus.-N-Z. Cable Assn,
