MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
MAINTENANCE CASES. At the ordinary sitting of the Magistrate's Court, New Plymouth,"yesterday, his Worship Mr. T» A. B. Bailey presided. Wm. Henderson m was charged with failing to comply with an order for the maintenance of his wife. Mr. Croker, for complainant, said that, the case had been before the Court three months ago, but had been adjourned to give defendant a chance of complying with the order. Since then, however, nothing had been paid. A sentence of three months' imprisonmdnt was imposed, the warrant to be suspended so long as defendant pays the sum of 35s per week. The adjourned hearing of the application of Emma Whitehead for a separation and order for maintenance against her husband, Frederick Whitehead, was resumed. - The evidence of Robert M. Whitehead, eldest son, was called regarding the income from his father's farm at Okato. Eventually the Magistrate granted the order for separation and fixed the amount of maintenance at 25s per week.
