At the Magistrate's Court this morning, Harry Tallerhan and Edmund Russell Jones, importers, carrying on business at Auckland under the name of Tallernan and Co., were chargeil that, with intent to defraud the revenue of the Customs by evading, or enabling softie other person to evade, the payment of full duty on ten cases of china ware, they did make an entry which was erroneous, in that the declaration made by E. R. Jones, as required by the Customs Act, 1913, stated the fair market value of the goods at £6 lis Bd, whereas the value was in fact £262 0s 3d. A separate information had also been laid against Edmund Russell Jones.
Mr. Donnelly, acting-Crown Prosecutor,' asked for an adjournment till August 24th, and this was granted.
