Buenos Ayres, July 31, Two hundred (million pounds of almost unsaleable wool is available in Argentina, owing to the cessation .of the demand for coarse grades, and it is expected that the quantity will increase during the August shearing.— Aus.-N.Z. The Department of Agriculture has announced that the June consumption of wool was 46,000,000 pounds, which is 17,000,000 below the average monthly consumption of 1920, due to a curtailment of textile manu-facturing.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. JAPANESE DEPRESSION. Tokio, July 31. A feature of the economic depression in Japan is the weakness of the steam ship charter market, About fifteen large oceangoing ships are idle at Kobe and Osaka, and fifty other vessels will, sooti be released from old charter contracts. Prices for ships have declined to 140 dollars per ton.

At the annual meeting of the Mount Morgan. Company, the articles of association were altered with the object of making the operations more profitable and permanent than if the earnings depended so largely, as hitherto, on ihe price of copper. The alterations empower the company to undertake exteasive dvelopments, especially in regard to minerals, chemicals, and engineering lines, supplying electric power for public and private purposes, and for purchasing and cnarterlng shins.— Aua.'N.Z.
