OBITUARY.
\ WELL-KNOWN PEOPLE. MR. A. P. DRYDEN. The .death took place at Wellington on Sunday "of Mr. A. P. Dryden, who recently retired on superannuation from the position of Chief Postmaster at Wellington, and formerly was Chief Post: master at New Plymouth. The deceased only became ill on Saturday, and he ■gradually, sank, and died early on Sunday morning. The late Mr. Dryden joined the postal service 42 years ago at Dunedin, and was later transferred to the staff of the General Post Office. For many years he acted as mail agent between New Zealand and San Francisco, and about 14 years ago he was appointed assistantpostmaster at Auckland, subsequently taking over the duties of Chief Postmaster at New Plymouth. In 1912 he became Chief Postmaster at Wellington, and retired from the position only a month ago, after spending three months' holiday in Australia. Mrs. Dryden,. who accompanied her husband to Australia, did not return with him, and was expected to arrive from Sydney yesterday. The left no family. MRS. JOHN BLUNDEIX. The death took place at Wellington on Sunday of Mrs. Blundell, wife of Mr. John Blundell, one of the propriet(>« of the Evening Post. For some t.me Mrs. Blundell had been lying dangerously ill, so that her death was not wholly unexpected. The late Mrs. Blundell was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wills, who arrived in Wellington with their children in 1850, Mrs. Blundell being at the time only four years of age, so that she has been associated with the Dominion from early colonial days. Mrs. Wills only predeceased her daughter two yeare ago. She was married to Mr. John Blundell In October, .1867, and has lived in Wellington during the whole of her married life. They celebrated their golden wedding under three years ago. MRS. CHARLES PEARCI. Mrs. Charles Pearco, wife of. Mr. C. Pearce, of Levin and Co., Wellington, died on Saturday night. The latp Mm. Pearce had been in ill-health for rome time, so that her death was not unexpected by her relatives. Mrs. Peajce was a' daughter of the late Captain Fairchild (who was for many years captain of the Government steamer). CAPTAIN D...J. WATSON. The death.is also announced fttJm Wellington after a long illness, of Captain David J. Watson, formerly a member of the Wellington Harbor Board, and for many years secretary of the Merchant Service Guild. MR.
