HEAVY IMPORTATIONS. Heavy importations of tea Into the Dominion during?, the five months end : ing May 31st are shown by the official returns. Tho total quantity for the period was 8,110,4511b., compared with 3,104,5281b. in the corresponding five months of 1919. Wellington showed importations of 2,285,7781b. for the .five months, about 50O,O00)b. more than the port's figures for the whole of 1919. The largest importation of tea was 8,938,6171b. in 1914, this quantity being' equivalent to 8.721b. per head of population, including Maoris. The imports during the last five years averaged 5,788,2941b., equal to about 7.651b. per head. ! If the imports for the present year go on at the same rate as for the five months, the total per head will be about 141b.
