' Received August 2, 5.35 p.m. m . Sydney, August 2. I lie newspapers appreciate Amst's good showing in the Sydney Handicap, after being so long out of the game, and with such a short training. He made a slow start, getting nwav only half a length ahead of Ripley, hut before they readied the half mile, he had settled Ripley's chance. Then opening out, and showing much of his old form, and though using a heavy boat which prevented displaying his best formi. he passed Kent and Gnodesell, but the distance to the finish was too short to enable him to overtake the leaders. William Beach declare Arnst to be the wonder man of sculling, and predicted that he would come hack. Regarding Barry, Beach said that lie gavo a' wonderful exhibition. He had never seen anything better up till the time for the race, which proved he was a great bit of stuff.—Aus -SJ.Z. Cable Assn.
