CUSTOMS DUTIES.
' INCREASE IN NEW 'PLYMOUTH RETURNS. The duty collected at the port of New Plymouth during July shows a very big increase over last year's figurea for the same month, according to the returns supplied by the local office. An advance of over £IOO in the beer duty is also noted. The statistics arc as follow, a statement being also given of the total collected, since the Ist of April (the beginning of the financial year):— Customs duties.—July: 1020, £1)072 3s Qd; 1919, £5003 8s"8d. Total from April 1: 1920, £38,031; 1919, £24,711 Os 7d. Beer duty.—July: 1920, £33-2 2s 8d; 1919, £217 Is Ud. Total from April 1: 1920, £1154 Is 3d; 1919, £BB4 lis Bd.
