' A Wellington telegram announces the death, following an operation, of Mr. Baxter Buckley, the well-k»ow,i) pianist. A Press message from Hokitika records the death of Mr. David Ziman, a well-known mining investor, after a short interval of illness. •-' A Press telegram from Hokitika says influenza is generally prevalent in the town and district, but in a mild form, sand without pneumonic features. Whole families are going down to the epidemic, and some of the local services are dislocated through hands being absent. The death took place suddenly, at New Plymouth last night of Mrs. McLeod, wif9 of Mr. James McLeod, of' New Plymouth. Mrs. McLeod was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. McWilliam, of Milton, Otago, and was 43 years of age. She had suffered from heart trouble for some years, but her death occurred with painful suddenness, for alio had been in town yesterday, and wfts quite well during the evening, but was later seized with a sudden heart attack. Mr. McLeod will liavo the sincere sympathy of a wide circle of friends throughout New Zealand.
