A special meeting of the Borougli Council was held last night for the purpose of confirming the special order instituting the new by-laws, which will come into operation on August 0. At last night's special meeting of the Borougli Council, the Mayor asked the Council to authorise tjie acceptance of loan money "at call" at four per cent. He stated that while this would be a convenience to the people it would have the effect of lessening the coat of the Council's overdraft. The Council unanimously agreed to the proposal, which will be put into effect immediately. EGMONT CLUB. At the Egmont Club last evening a team from the Eltham C.E.M.S. Club tried conclusions with members of the local club at billiards, snooker and chess. Supper was served during the evening, and a thoroughly enjoyable time was spent, much interest being shown in the various games.
