EMPIRE CONFERENCE. WELCOME TO DELEGATES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received July 20, 9.30 p.m. Ottawa, July 28. The Imperial Press Conference delegation from Britain has arrived at Hali-fax.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. Received July 20, 11.50 p.m. Halifax (Nova Scotia), July 28. Mr. J. McCallum Grant, LieutenantGovernor of Nova Scotia, welcomed the members of the Imperial Press Conference in the historic Legislative Chamber. Lord Burnham replied, saying the delegates were not in Canada for propaganda, but to see Canada for themselves. "We have come to recognise that not only is Canada thinking and speaking to-day ahead of Europe, but ahead of herself," he added. "It is because we believe the country will continue to think and speak ahead of herself that we are so glad to be here to-day." Mr. Kirwan replied for the Dominions, saying the object of the conference was the prosperity of the Empire. Mr. W. S. Feilding, the veteran Parliamentarian, Mr. F. B. McCurdy, Federal Minister of Works, Mr. R. E. Finn, Provincial Minister (representing the Premier, Mr. Murray), each welcomed the delegates in three minute speeches.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
