FROSTY WEATHER
ANOTHER RECORD REACHED. INDICATIONS FOR CHANGE. On Monday it was recorded in the Daily News that the heaviest frost of the winter in New Plymouth had occurred on the preceding Sunday) but the 5| degrees registered on the sports ground in Pukekura Park yesterday. eclipses this and also the records .for the past twenty-five years. In the early morning yesterday pedestrians could feel the ice crackKng pa the ground underfoot, which; is an indication of the severity of the cold. Not only in New Plymouth, but throughout Taranaki there has been a continuation of frosty weather. Fourteen 1 successive frosts have been experienced in lltham and surrounding districts, and this, it is claimed, is somewhat of a record for South Taranaki. .. In New Plymouth during the' weak frosts on other days have ranged from 2J degrees downwards. Present indications strongly tend to indicate an approaching break in the spell of fine weather. Mr. Pemberton's indications issued last evening are:' Moderate to strong easterly winds northwards of Kawhia and East Cape, and southeriies prevailing elsewhere. Weather fair to cloudy generally, but cold changeable conditions and scattered showers are likely in northern and southernmost districts, and also on the east coast, The barometer is unsteady, with a falling tendency shortly.
