y BRITISH MINERS' ACTION. GENERAL STRIKE THREAT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright, ■Received July 29, 1.25 a.m. London, July 26. The Government, informed the deputation from the Miners' Federation of its unqualified rejection of the demand for an increase of wages of 2s a week, and a reduction in the price of household coal by 14s a ton. The executive of the Miners' Federation subsequently decided to convene a national conference for August 12, when arrangements will probably be made for taking a strike ballot. A serious crisis is threatened by the end of August, when the returns will be available.—Reuter Service. Received July 27, 10.45 p.m. London, July 2«.
The miners' leaders state they are amazed at the Government's uncompromising refusal of their demands.
