Messrs. Blair Mason and Lee -reported on the hydro-electric power extension (Contract No. 1), as follows: For the period 19th June to 24th July, the concrete at the intake is completed to the full height, leaving only the flat concrete roof to be done. The sluice valves are to hand, and will be erected at the first opportunity. The tunnel heading is now driven to a distance of 730 ft. or just over 11 chains. The driving is now good, and as soon as the concreting is finished good progress should be made. Since the last report 400 ft. of the invert has been concreted, and about .'lO ft. of the walls and roof. Owing to-a breakdown of the crusher, there' was a shortage of metal delaying the concreting. The contractor lias now installed another stone ernslier..

It was decided to write to Air. Blair Mason asking by what da*e the Council may exnect the plans of the second tunnel, and that as the matter is of vital importance he be asked tp notify the Council if lie is unable to do the work. GENERAL. Regarding carriers' charges, it was reported that schedules from other towns indicated that the charges generally appeared to be lower than in New Plymouth—Consideration of the matter was deferred to enable a comparative statement to be laid on the table. A draught copy of the conditions under which Reserve T is to be leased was before the Council, and was finally approved. On the suggestion of" Crs. Sykes and Collis some amendments were made with a view to giving definite rights to other sports bodies in addition to cricketers.
