BEACH RESERVES AVAILABLE. SITES AT MOTUBOA ENl>. Application was made to the New Plymouth Borough Council last evening by a. Carrington Road resident, who has to vacate his house, for permission to pitch a tent on a certain Bito, and the letter ' led to a general discussion on the fries* tion of providing sites for temporary quarters. . • Cr. Sykes advocated the erection of twenty or thirty cheap huts on the reserve, on the sea front below Belt Road. He was of opinion that such a course would be better than the conditions under which some people were living at present. Tr, The Mayor (Mr. Jas. Clarke) Said permission might be given for the erection of temporary quarters providing applicants were required to oonfomwith certain regulations or given a plUi bj which they must abide. 'nr., In reply to a, query by a couMttlor the Borough Manager said that ptoplJ* living on the beach were not subject to fates. Eventually, it was decided th»t the applicant whose position was undw review be given permission to pitch a tent on the railway reserve, Moturoa, in a position to be approved by the borough inspector, the rental to be £2 10s per half year. While on this question, the Council, •consequent to a report from Inspector Day, received at the last meeting'as to demand for land for temporary buildings, also decided to authorise th«* inspector to supervise the erection of temporary huts on sftes on the seaside end of Calvert Road, at a rental of £2 os, subject to the plans being approved by the Council. '
