AUCKLAND MILK PRICE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The retail price of milk has been fixed at 7d per quart by the Boarit of Trade for Auckland City, to take effect from August 1. SUGAR WORKERS' DISPUTE] Auckland, Last Night. The sugar workers' dispute was before the Conciliation Council to-day. Included in the Sugar Company's proposals waß the stipulation that 48 hours should be worked by the men, while the Union insisted on a working week of 44 hours. The rate of wages was also contested. No settlement was reached, but it is understood there are excellent prospects of a settlement when the Council resumes on Tuesday next. A SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIP. Masterton, Last Night. The elaybird pigeon championship of New Zealand was fired here to-day, and was won by Duncan Fraser, of Masterton. S. Glenn ie (Gisborne) and E. R. iyng (Huntly) tied Tor second place. WHISKY IN NO-LICENSE AREA. Wellington, July 20. Before Mr. Burton, S.M., John Michaclick was to-day convicted and lined £;')0 for keeping liquor for sale. The police caught accused in the night carrying a portmanteau containing five bottles of whisky, and afterwards they raided his premises.
