THE RUGBY GAME. HAWKE'S BAY v. TARANAKI. TO-DAY'S MATCH. With a continuance of the fine weather which has prevailed during the past few days the match which takes place at New Plymouth this afternoon between the Tarauakl and Hawke's Bay representatives should be well worth witnessing. The visitors are said to be a very fast combination. Their backs, which include two members of the Pioneer team, an ex-Welling-ton,:. and an ex-Taranaki rep., are capable of giving a splendid exposition, and can be relied upon to give a good account of themselves. They are young and keen, and have practised assiduously during the past two days, and their form has pleased enthusiasts. The Taranakl team, though without the services of Cameron and Sykes, should bene&t by the matches played recently, and with the. Inclusion of R. Roberts in the backs and M. Cain In the forwards, should worthily uphold the traditions of 'i'aranakl football. i The match will start promptly at 245 p.m.,' so as lo enable country visitors to catch the afternoon train, which, has been delayed to leave New Plymouth at 5 o'clock. TARANAKI. D (Red and Black,) Full-back: George. Three-quarters: H. Oliver, Roberts, < Hickey. Five-eighths: Robertson, R. Oliver. Half: 1 Lynskey. Wing Forward: Malone. Forwards: Fogarty, Smith. Kivell, Mcsters, King. Cain Blrchall. Emergencies: Pennlail (back); Spence and Fuller (forwards). The members of the Hawke's Bay team! were taken to the mountain yesterday afternoon. / SCHOOL PLAY. By Telegraph.—'Press Association. fhrlstchureli, Last Night. In Inter-Colloglnte football, King's College (Auckland) beat. Christ's College by 17 to 9. It was an Interesting game, though not so spectacular as secondary school matches usually are. Christ's College has Informed the Canterbury Kugby Union that Its team is unable to take part in the Dominion secondary schools tournament, for the cup won by the New Zealand Mounted Infantry In Egypt, owing to the interference with school work the match would entail. Says the Auckland Herald: The Auckland team hud much the better of the play In the early stages, and attacked strongly, Badeley kkklog two penalty goal? In the first quarter, while the visitors failed to score In the second quarter the Taranakl forwards forced the face, and though Auckland added a try to their score they were hard pressed at times. Tho visitors showed to even greater advantage throughout the second spell" In the opening quarter their forwards attacked vigorously, but neither side was able to score. During the concluding quarter the Taranaki teaim maintained the pressure, and were rewarded with a try, which was their onlv score. The Auckland backs handled the ball much better than the visitors, but In the forwards the Taranalrl team more than held their own.
