The Court of Appeal delivered judgment this morning in the case of ,Rfeadford v. the New Zealand Shipping Company. Without calling on counsel *for the respondents to reply, the court held that there was no evidence to show liow the man met his death, ana that the appellants had not discharged the onus east on them of establishing, negligence. PHARMACY EXAMINATIONS. i Auckland, July 20.% _ A deputation from the Retail Chemists' Association waited on the University Council and protested against the nronnsal of the New Zealand Pharmacy Board to establish a school of pharmacy in Wellington on the ground of hardship to candidates outside 'that centre. The deputation stated that if provision wa,s made for a pharmacy examination in Auqkland, 150 members would attend the university yearly. The chairman (the Hon. Mr. Fowlds) assured the deputation of the council's sympathy, The council would see what could be done.
