. TEE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. 97 Telegraph.—Press Ajsoel»tlo»> Wellington, Last Night. The Legislative Council met at £.30 p.m. The Revocation' of Naturalisation Amendment Bill and the New Zealand Institute Amendment Bill were received from the House of Representatives and read a first time.

The Marriage Amendment Bill waß also recejved from the House of Representatives and read a second time pro forma, and referred to the Statutes Revision Committee. The Law Practitioners Amendment Bill, providing for solicitors to count the period ;on war service in the five years necessary to.- qualify *im barrister, was introduced by the leader of, the Council, and read a first time. - The Council adopted the Hon. G. M. Thomson's motion: 4'That the Government he urged to inaugurate a, definite policy for the development of the fishing industry, in the interests of (1) a cheaper supply of food, (2) a greatly increased supply of manure and cheap fish food for stock, and (S) the encouraging and developing ■of ■* fishing population oh which the navy can depend in emergency.'-!! • ■'!;'■ The Customs Amendment Sill was_received from th,e House and put through all its stages as a matter of urgency.
