The Director of the New Plymouth 3«6tajetl College notified that it would Be-neeessary for the Council to elect a representative on the Advisory Board of .tbL school for the coming year. He also took the opportunity of appealing to the Council for more generous support of the BChooL The Council's present annual contribution was £25, which was somewhat small, and the writer made a plea for an increased allotment. "New Pry- • mouth," he said, "is undoubtedly on the eVe'of i forward movement and expansive growtbTand if possible I intend that the school shall be worthy of the town." Cr. Short was re-appointed the Council's representative. The Council decided that it could not facte**? the subsidy this year. LAND FOR HOUSING. Inspector Day reported that there was * constant demand for land tor men who were without houses, and who could afford to put up a temporary building. He suggested letting for temporary •hack* a piece of land on the sea-side end Of Calvert Road) between the railway line and the sea, where two or three faun could be erected. The Council decided to make inquiries aa to whether the land was available. GENERAL.
