THE PRESS CONFERENCE
THE PROGRAMME IN CANADA. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Vancouver, July 17. Arriving kte in the evening, the Australasian journalists were welcomed informally by the Vancouver 'lnstitute of Journalists. They proceed in the morning by two special traiA on the Canadian Pacific railway to Sydney (Nova Scotia), to meet the British contingent to tour the country westward of Ottawa. The conference programme has been partially arranged from August 6 to 10. There will be an address by Mr. Meighen (Premier of Canada), on the general topics of the day, Empire Press cables, wireless telegraphy, Press censorship, and the newsprint supply, and a discussion.
The couference will be opened by Lord Burnham, and will continue throughout the afternoon of August 4 with a discussion on the Empire Presß Union. On August 6 "Empire Partnership" will be the only general topic for the morning session. On August 7 the subject for , the morning session will be "Empire Trade," and that for the afternoon "The Press and Post-War Problems." PROGRAMME RE-ARRANGED. Received July 19, 7.35 p.m. Vancouver, July IS. The pre-arranged schedule of the Australasian journalists has been discarded. The party will remain here a few days, and will then break up, crossing the continent in a leisurely fashion, and re-assembling at Montreal on July 31 to meet the British journfcrists and proceed to Ottawa for the conference as previously scheduled.
