The old members of Triumph Lodge of the Independent Order of Oddfellows," New Zealand, met in the Foresters' Hall on Friday evening, for the purpose of re-forming the Lodge, which became dormant during the war. One of the problems which Stratford, in common with many other growing towns, is faced with, is the difficulty of finding boarding accommodation for young women engaged in business. There seems to be a general antipathy on the part of most boarding-house keepers to take girls as boarders, and, as a result, local employers find it very difficult to obtain female assistants from outside districts. At present a large number of girls in Stratford have been compelled to take rooms, and, in some cases, they band together and take a house for the purpose of "baching," as otherwise they would be unable to find accommodation in the town. The matter is one of importance to business people, and it is necessary, in order to overcome the present difficulties, that, some movement be at once set on foot for the purpose of establishing a girls' hostel. The movement should receive the support of the churches, local bodies, and the business peopte.
