HYDRO-ELECTRICITY.
WAXGANUI SUPPLY.
(By Telegraph— Special Correspondent.) ■ Wellington, Last Night. In the House of Representatives this afternoon, Mr. Veitcli (Wanganui) asked the Minister for Public Works wliy he haj, since the general elections, , gone back on the* promise made by his predecessor before the election that anganni would have a share of the hydroelectric power from Mangahao. The Hon. J. 0. Coates replied: I have not gone back on any promise made, and the electric transmission lines will be extended as rapidly as possible from the Mangahao power station, via Wanganui, to join up with the proposed New Plymouth borough system and the Arapuni lines. Power will be supplied in the Wanganui distinct, from these mains as soon as they ars available, but until Mangahao is reinforced from Waikaremoana, Arapuni, New Plymouth. or some other source, the total available supply will be limited to the capacity of the Mangahao scheme.
