j APPRECIATION OF WELCOME. By Telegraph.—Press Association. ; Hastings, Last Night. General Sir William Birdwood and Lady Birdwood have been' spending a few days at the home of General Sir Andrew Russell,-Tunanui, Hastings. Today General Birdwodtt was tendered a civic reception, when the welcome was popular and enthusiastic. General Birdwood said this was the last function he ' would address in New Zealand, as they would be leaving the country soon.
