■ PURCHASE OF MORE CABS, DEVELOPMENT OP SERVICE. Reporting to the New Plymouth Bow ough Council last evening, the finance committee stated, inter alia: "The elec* trical engineer was authorised to purchase three tram cars suitable either for one man control or for two men, subject to such cars being passed by the Publie Works Department; approximate pric<» £3600 each; the Council having the.right to cancel the order for two of the car* at any time within three months, If only one car is purchased the price is approximately £3750." When the report came before the Council, the tramways manager informed councillors that the oars had all the modern safety features. ,The cars were needed, as he was anxious to put on a six or seven minutes service during certain times of the day, which he eoiad not do under present conditions.
