PERSONAL.
The death is reported of Mr. John Shuter, a former captain of the Surrey Cricket Club. An Ottawa cablegram says that the Hon. A. Meighen, Minister of the Interior in the Borden Government, has been asked to form a Government. A London cablegram reports the death of Sir William Baillie-Hamilton, formerly chief, clerft of the Colonial Office. Mr. W. F. Alexander, for the past ten years editor of the Timaru Herald, has been appointed to the editorship of the Dunedin Evening Star (says a Press telegram). Mr. Alexander will take up his new duties on December Ist, at which daite the Hon. Mark Cohen, the present editor, retires.
