HUNTING.
YESTERDAY'S MEET. The meet of the North Taranaki Hunt yesr terday was held at Mr. 0. N. Skeitou's property, Motunui, when a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. There wero about 25 followers, among whom were a number of flrst horses qualifying for the race meeting to be held on August 20th. Mr. Skelton and his neighbours had the country well prepared and spared for the occasion, and consequently some good Jumping was witnessed by the large concourse assembled.' The pack, after trying for some time for a hare and falling to find one, were drawn off to a drag hunt, which rront the spectators' point of view was most satisfactory. The majority of the horses jumped perfectly. Subsentient to this quite a number of horses were given an opportunity to qualify over a stiff round of jumps, practically all qualifying. At the conclusion of the meet several new members. were elected, and Sir. Chaney. on behalf oßlie Hunt, thanked Mr. and Mrs. Skelton for their hospitality and kindness. THE HUNT RACES. Arrangements are now being made for (he hunt races, which take prace on August 20. The meeting was suspended in 19)0 owing to war conditions, and Its revival this year is being looked forward to. An interesting programme of e'giit races has been provided, one open event, three hacks, and four hunters, and the stakes amount to nearly £IOOO. The fact that it is a "tote" meeting adds to its popularity.
