FORESTRY LEAGUE.
* THE ANNUAL MEETING. By telegraph.—Press Association, Wellington, Last Night. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Forestry League to-night, it was agreed that the Government be requestrd immediately to investigate the value in the Dominion or elsewhere of our maire timber, and if it should be found that it can be utilised for furniture or other purposes, that every tree of unliable size shall be sawn, and timber thus saved. , The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Sir James G. Wilson; hon. secretary, Mr. F. W. Furkett; auditor, Mr. D. McKay; members of Council (ten retiring annually), Sir W. C. ,Buchanan, Messrs- E. Hall, R. Reynolds, A. Bathgate, F. W. Williams, E. Maxwell, H. F. Haast, and W. H. Field.
