W- J. 1 Chaney, T. Furlong, C. Carter, F. -W. Okey, R: J. E. Whittle, T. C. List, J. K . Rowlands, H. R. Cattley, F. Hartnell, and the secretary (Mr. A. S. Allen). Correspondence was read from a farm trainee, who expressed appreciation of the efforts of the Department in placing and otherwise assisting returned soldiers | to gain a knowledge of farming.—The secretary reported that he had forwarded a copy of the letter to the Director of Repatriation. , The Director of Repatriation wrote:--"We have to congratulate the New Plymouth committee - upon the excellent state of affairs obtaining in your district. Your report regarding repayments was read to the Ministers, who expressed their appreciation of the position." The Ministerial Board intimated that on account of the falling off in the work recently, it had decided that, after July, one nieeting per month would be sufficient. It suggested that an executive should be set up to transact routine business, subsequently reporting to tho general committee.—The opinion of the committee was that, instead of work decreasing in the Taranaki district, it was actually increasing—29 applications being before that night's that the/meetings could not be ctft down without injury Jo the interests of discharged soldiers. It was decided to hold meetings as heretofore, viz., fortnightly. The following loans were recommended:—£2oo for car painting business, £3OO for dairy stock, and £IOO for horses and lorry. An application for the purchase of a motor truck was deferred. Twelve applications for loans of £75 for furniture were granted, «,s were four for £SO, one for'£Co, and one for £23. Training subsidies were granted in respect to the following:—Motor engineering, polishing, hairdressing (2 cases), and cabinet-making. The payment of ,class fees in connection with a Technical College course was authorised, Another application for the payment, of a correspondence school course was refused.
