STEPS TO AVOID A GLUT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Melbourne, July 5. After conferring with wool-growers and wool-brakers Mr. Hughes stated that he had been authorised to inform the British Government, the woolgrowers, siul the public, that "auction sales of the 1920-21 clip would he opened in Australia, about October 1 next. He subsequently stated that this did not imply that growers would be compelled to submit all wool for sale in Australia, but tliey were left free to export or sell in Australia. Mr. Hughes is continuing his representations to the Imperial authorities with the object of preventing a glut of Australian tfool, such as would occur If the new season's clip and the carryover from past clips were placed on tiie market together.—Aus.-N.Z.
