PARLIAMENT OF CHURCHES.

OPENING OF LAMBETH ! .• CONFERENCE. By Telecraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, July 4. A great function took place in Canterbury Cathedral on Saturday. The Primate, seated in St. Augustine's chair, received 300 archbishops and bishops attending the .Lambeth Conference. Great services were held to-day at Westminster Abbey, representatives of the Greek, American, and oversea Dominion churches being present. The Primate was the celebrant. Dean Ryle, in a characteristic broad Church sermon, advocated the admission of women to active participation iji church services, and strongly urged a reunion of believers in the essential doctrine of reincarnation. He recommended the con- . ference to alter one word in the Nicene Creed, making it read: "Believe in one holy catholic church," and thereby reproducing pre-Reformation formula.— Aus.-N.Z, Cable Assn.
