WHEAT SUPPLY.
A SURPLUS EXPECTED. WORLD'S CROPS REVIEWED. By Telegraph.—-Press Asan.«-Copyriglit, I'.ome, July 4. Agricultural statistics issued by thjs International Institute oi Agriculture show that at April 1 tlicre were still 105,000,000 quintals of wheat and rye available in exporting countries, namely, (»0,000,000 in North America, 32,000,000 in South. America, 13,000,000 in. Australia. The requirements of importing countries between April and their respective harvests are 81,000,000 quintals, consequently a surplus will be available during the coming season. The Institute forecasts good European harvests, and should this forecast be borne out, the requirements of countries importing on a large scale will _be_ less than last year. British India had a larger crop than last year, so probably exports will commence next season. The United States 1 expects a smaller crop than in 1919, but one above the pre-war average. Canadian crop prospects are favorable. The yield will probably be much larger than in 1919, and it is held that the outlook for the cojjiing year does not justify any serious Anxiety whether for importers or exporters.—Reuter Service.
